Hello Nation, you look lovely! Then again, you always do!

Ok, enough flirting, geez! So, we’ve got a MAJOR announcement for you & we hope to have news for you by the end of the month! PSYCH! (remember that word? It’s pronounced “syke” & it means, “I just F’d with you psychologically). In any case, here’s the announcement;

Please welcome the new Black Hat Villain front-woman (that’s right, woman) ASHLEY NOVEMBER!!!

She’s got awesome vocals, an awesomer attitude & is the perfect fit for the awesomest band in the world! (Ummm, Black Hat Villain, duh!) We’re so unbelievably stoked to have Ashley join BHV, you have no idea! We had the opportunity to play live with Ashley last week in Vancouver & the response was phenomenal! While there, we also had a killer photo shoot with the ultra-talented Whitney Bragagnolo & we’re soooo impressed with the results! Check it out up top, yeah?

We’re slowly updating all our sites/pics etc. & hope to have some sneak peeks of new tunes with Ashley in the next week or so, so please bear with us!

That’s it for now guys, we’re super excited to continue on our quest for world domination & couldn’t be happier with Ashley at the helm!

Hello Nation!

It’s been quite some time since we last conversed, but these words were typed to change that!

VOCALS!!!

First off, we’ve got a major announcement coming in the next month, regarding the vacant front-person position. We have indeed made a decision on what we plan to do; it may be that we found the right fit, or that we plan on continuing as a 4 piece, or that we’re going to auto-tune our farts & call it good enough, (as many “artists” are doing these days) but before we make anything “official”, we want to line up all our dicks… DUCKS! Line up all our ducks! (dammit! The “i’ & “u” are so close together on the keyboard, it’s an honest mistake, right? I bet who ever invented the keyboard & decided that the “i” & “u” should be side by side is LHAO & saying, “Finally!”). Anyway, stay tuned, you’ll be the second to know!

We want to thank everyone who took the time to submit vocals in hopes of becoming BHV’s new front-person! We had quite a few submissions & there were some very promising vocals thrown down! Based on that, we have no doubt that a new crop of bands with dynamic & ebullient (wtf does ebullient mean?) vocalists are about to emerge!

SHOWS!!!

It’s been a while since we’ve played up on a stage for you guys & we miss it like the deserts miss the rain (sung to the tune of “…like the deserts miss the rain”). We have confirmation on a Vancouver date (details below) & are working out the details for several others, including additional Vancouver dates, Kelowna/Kamloops & Vernon. As always, if there’s somewhere you think we should be playing, please contact us!

All the info for the confirmed Vancouver date can be found here! We’ll post more details once other shows are confirmed.

NEW TUNES!!!

We’ve got 7 or 8 brand spankers written & demo’d, entirely unheard, except by a handful of you! We’re all super stoked on how they sound & we can’t wait for you guys to hear them! They nestle in quite nicely with the existing set-list & while being very different from the “My Generation” ep, we feel the new songs pick up where the ep left off & forge ahead in a new direction! But you be the judge & come see us live!

THAT’S ALL FOR NOW!!!

That’s all for now!

We’ll be in touch very soon!

Abe & BHV!

Oh yeah, don’t forget to follow us on Twitter; @blackhatvillain & “like” us on FaceBook!

Itʼs been one hell of a ride the past two years during my tenure as frontman for Black Hat Villain.

Weʼve enjoyed tremendous achievements together and I consider myself extremely lucky to have shared this stage of my musical journey with Sam, Abe, Ian and Tim. Iʼve also enjoyed the boundless energy and enthusiasm that Ryan Rae brought into the fold over the past few months. That being said, I have decided to leave the band to continue to pursue my own solo writing and performing ambitions. Our upcoming performance scheduled for the 2nd Annual Capital City Tattoo Convention at Pearkes Arena on March 19th will be my last as the lead singer for Black Hat Villain and I hope that many of you are able to make it so that we can celebrate this last show together.

I poured my heart and soul into helping create the magic of BHV and donʼt regret a single moment of it. As difficult a decision as this was, weʼve all been inspired to write and record new material lately but sadly were unable to find a creative cohesion that suited our own unique musical styles and ambitions for the future. While I am saddened to no longer be sharing the energetic stage with my talented brethren, it was in the best interest of us all for me to take this opportunity to step away from BHV so that we could all continue to create the type of music we each love most.

Rest assured that this situation is being handled professionally and maturely with mutual love and respect by everyone – this way by no means a conflicting personality issue. Ian, Abe and Sam have decided to carry on as Black Hat Villain and will be resuming their writing while they look to find the next singer to carry the torch. I want to wish the boys every success as they continue forward on their rock & roll journey together and, like all of you, look forward to hearing their latest creations.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to some very important people I have loved, lived and learned from on this incredible rock & roll journey. To Sam, Abe, Ian and Tim I would like to say that I love you fellas like brothers and the times we spent and the heights we reached together I will cherish forever. You all taught me so much in your own unique way and it was an honour to have had the opportunity to help share our special blend of magic to the world. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our manager Brian Thompson of Thorny Bleeder Records for his mentorship and guidance over the past two years. Without Brianʼs tireless help we wouldnʼt have been able to connect with so many of the key people that helped make BHV what it has become today. I simply must express my deepest thanks to Shane Prieur. Shane is a brother to me and a dear friend to us all and was the one who introduced me to Sam and Tim on that first fateful day. His belief and incredible support truly gave us the means with which to test drive our rock & roll machine and the heights to which we were able to soar simply would not have happened without him by our side. Allow me to thank the inner circle of the BHV family who embraced me and my family with such open arms and whose patient support and undying love gave all of us the opportunity to run off in pursuit of our greatest dreams. We are eternally grateful to count you as our friends. I would also like to thank all of the amazing guys and gals who work in producing music radio, news, blogs and photos – it was a pleasure to meet you and thank you all so much for your incredible support of our My Generation EP. A special shout-out goes to Dave Sawchuk at 91.3 The Zone and Mike Devlin at the Times Colonist in Victoria, Matt Porteuos at 94X in Prince George, Lochlin “Locʼr” Cross at 100.3 The Bear in Edmonton and, of course, Dunner, Neil Morrison, Todd & Karen and Danger at 99.3 The Fox in Vancouver.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of you – The Black Hat Nation. Never before in my musical career have I experienced the energy, passion and active
participation between the page and the stage as I have during my time waving the cane, prowling the stage in a tux and singing to the heavens as 1/5 of the mighty BHV. While
some of you may be disappointed with this news I hope you can understand and appreciate that I needed to do what was best for me and my family and that Iʼm
extremely confident in the path I have chosen for my future. Thank you so much for yourlove, support and undying belief in the magic of our music. Please know that the magic
lives on as we each change and grow towards the future.

I hope to see some of you on the other side of this coin where I will be continuing to create passionate music the only way I know how – with honesty, respect and love for all
things.

Peace,

scotty tuesday (s2)

(a.k.a – scott valentine)

Happy New Year Nation! How was your 2010? Ours was terrible. Terribly AWESOME!!! It’s been a while & we have a ton of stuff to catch up on, so here’s some words typed out into a few paragraphs, in the form of a blog type thing, for you to read & comment on.

Another year has come & gone & what a year it has been! Looking back, it’s unbelievable what you’ve all helped us accomplish in a relatively short period of time! From releasing “My Generation” in April, being selected as 91.3 the Zone’s band of the month, entering & winning top 3 in 99.3 the Fox’s SEEDS yearly competition, touring Western Canada & playing one of the best venues in North America (the Commodore Ballroom) not once, but twice! What more could we ask for, than to play a New Years Eve show in our hometown, with some of our closest friends & loved ones! What a way to cap the year off! Taking all that into consideration, I’d say the bar was set pretty darn high in 2010, but there’s no doubt in our minds that in 2011, we can make that bar our bitch! But we can’t do it alone, we need your help! Here’s what we need;

A tour bus, booze, drugs, money, a lawyer, a doctor, or an independently wealthy individual with all of the following; a tour bus, booze, drugs, money & who has passed their bar exam & has a PHD. Fuckin simple!

So here’s what has already happened thus far & what we have planned for the remainder of the year;

WELCOME

First off, we’d like to welcome all the new people that have decided to join us in our worldwide quest for Rock & Roll domination! We’ve seen a lot of new faces in the last little bit & we thank you for joining the fight, so if you dig our tunes, please help spread the word! Get your people to join our FaceBook page, add us on Twitter, sign up to The Official Black Hat Nation Mailing List & get them to tell their people, who will hopefully tell their people, who will hopefully tell their people, but hopefully they won’t tell their people’s people, those guys are fuckin’ weirdos!

FREE MUSIC

If you haven’t already heard, one of our new years resolutions is to have our music in the hands & ears of as many people as possible. In order to try & do this, we’ve decided to give our six song “My Generation” EP away… FOR FREE!!! Can you do us a HUGE solid & tell everyone!!! Here’s a link you can share on Facebook, MySpace, your blog, your website and anywhere else on the interwebs & definitely, TWEET THAT SHIT!

Black Hat Villain would like to thank THORNY BLEEDER RECORDS for selecting “All My Friends Are Dead” as one of the songs for their annual “Get Thorny” compilation, showcasing some of Canada’s finest talent. It’s available as a free download as well, so click on THIS link, get yourself some free Canadian content & spread the word! While you’re at it, help yourself to a free download of the first two “Get Thorny” compilations as well! (Get Thorny 2 featured our smash hit, “My Generation” & upon it’s release, caused world peace for 3 mins 15 sex, I mean secs. Unfortunately, after the song was done, everyone just went right back to killing each other. Humans, hey?)

TIM

As you may or may not know, Tim Sweeting is no longer beating the skins for Black Hat Villain. We’re not going to go into the reasons for this decision, as we’d rather focus on the future of Black Hat Villain & not dwell on the past. We’ll just say that it was not an easy decision to make & that we’ll miss Tim a great deal. Tim was paramount in Black Hat Villain’s successes up to this point & for that, we’ll be eternally grateful! Tim is an extremely talented individual & there’s no doubt in our minds that before long, he’ll will be playing for a bigger, better, way more successful band that the rest of us will be jealous of.

DRUMS

Due to the recent vacancy in the drum department (in case you have no idea what we’re talking about, or have already forgotten, please see the above paragraph) we were left no choice but to enlist the help of a long time friend & one of the best drummers this side of Sooke! It’s far too soon to say whether or not he/she/it (could be a he, could be a she, could be a robot) is the right fit for BHV, but when that decision has been made, you’ll be the first to know! If you cannot contain your curiosity, come check out him/her/it on Feb 4th here in Vic. Or Feb. 16th in Vancouver! (details to follow)

SHOWS

First off, we’d like to apologize to Stand Down & to our fans for canceling our show @ Venue on January 20th in Vancouver. We were forced to cancel that date, as it would have been impossible for us to find a replacement drummer & teach him/her/it the songs in the short period of time that we were dealing with. We promise to make it up to you guys, one way or another… HJ’s behind a Granville St. Dumpster? Guys?

Here’s the details for our next shows;

Fri. Feb. 4th – Victoria @ LUCKY BAR w/Handsome Distraction & Syn{a}pse! Here’s the FB event page with all the info you can possibly handle…

Wed. Feb. 16th – Vancouver @ Republic on Granville w/guests (keep checking our FB page for details)

We hope to see you all out with a pack of “frothing at the mouth, ravenous BHV virgins”!

TOUR

What’s that? You heard that Black Hat Villain will not be doing any touring? And you believed it? Tisk, tisk my friends. This “talk” is preposterous & quite frankly, laughable! Lol! (see?) Black Hat Villain WILL be touring this year, it’s too soon to say when, where & how extensive, but we will definitely keep you posted on any developments. If you want to see BHV in your town, hit us up; info@blackhatvillain.com

VIDEOS

We briefly touched on the subject awhile ago about shooting a video for “My Generation”. We’ve come up with a pretty crafty idea & if it turns out like we’re picturing, it could win a Grammy/Oscar/Pullitzer/Meat Draw! But in order for us to pull it off, we can’t do it alone & we’re gonna need your help! If you’ve got a camera & a torso, you’re in! Stay tuned to our FB page for details on what we need of you.

In other video news, here’s a link to a fan made video for Black Hat Villain’s smash hit “Creature”! Thanks to Ryan Weldon for doing such an excellent job! Give it a gander & let us know what you think!

BI…I mean, BYE

I think that’s all for now, so until next time, stay tuned to our various social networking outlets for all the latest “what-not”! We’ve got a ton of mediocre ideas coming up & a couple of really good ones…that are usually shadowed by a bunch of really bad, immature, random ones, but that’s for you to decide. Let us know!

Thanks again guys, for making 2010 a monumental year for not just Black Hat Villain, but for the ENTIRE Black Hat Nation!

BHV!

SPECIAL GUEST VILLAIN;

Shane P – Merch Pimp/Tour Manager

5 months in the making, constant re-scheduling & shuffling, numerous e-mails & phone calls, I’d venture to say The Black Hat Villain Dirty & Dangerous BC/Alberta Tour 2010 with special guests The Malibu Knights, was a huge success! We brought the thunder to a whole bunch of people who wouldn’t have otherwise had a chance to witness Black Hat Villain do what we do best, blow doors & roofs of venues! We met some very cool people & made a ton of very important contacts at Rock Radio along the way while promoting our first single, “My Generation”. The Black Hat Nation is growing people & we couldn’t be more proud! We’d like give a huge thanks to everyone who answered the call & helped out immensely by putting up posters & spreading the word, we couldn’t have made the impact we did without your help!

So here’s a brief breakdown of how everything went down;

Sept 10th; Kelowna w/Malibu Knights

We loaded up “The Great White Panther” and took off from our home base of Victoria at about 4:30 am in order to make the first ferry & be able to make it to Black Hat Villain’s FIRST EVER, on-air acoustic performance! Our host station was POWER 104 in Kelowna & we rolled in & chatted up super-cool DJ Craig Stone and then proceeded to rock the shit out of “One Way Street”! We arrived at Doc Willoughby’s to meet up with Kelowna home town heroes & our tour companions for the next 11 days, The Malibu Knights. Having only met them once, very briefly, when we played Vernon at Motofest (w/Gob, Swollen Members & Mariana’s Trench) we were unsure what to expect; did we just book a tour with a bunch of Star Wars nerds who like to pop each others bum zits with chop sticks? It turns out that’s what happened, but we were able to look past all that & see a different side to this trio of power-rock warriors! Dan, Rod & Dean are three of the most solid guys we could have hoped to tour with & the fact that they all shared our twisted sense of humour, fueled the fire for an unending slew of fart & boner jokes. They also have the pimpin’est motorhome in Western Canada, so that doesn’t hurt either! Killer songwriters & a “tighter than the Pope’s wife” live performance sums up this trinity of rock & roll wizards! We highly recommend checking out The Malibu Knights & seeing as they’re on the road 24/7 (at the time we met up with them on Sept 10th, they had already played 170-ish shows since January!!!) there’s a very good possibility they’ll be playing somewhere near you!

Anyways, back to the blah, blah, blah; Doc Willoughby’s was packed & we rocked every sack & curtain in the place. Special thanks to Jason & his wife & kids for putting us up in Peachland & for the killer rock & roll breakfast the next morn.

Sept. 11th; Kamloops w/Malibu Knights

We pull up to the Dirty Jersey in Kamloops for our next show & couldn’t decide whether to play the show, or say “F” it & bowl the night away at the bowling alley that was attached to the venue. We decided to play the show & we’re glad we did! We met some extremely cool people & were very entertained by some of the locals, most notably “Rick” who was waaaay over the legal limit & proceeded to crash The Malibu Knights set three or four times!

Sept. 12th; Vernon w/Channel Eight

We were advised weeks in advance by our host to “…get to Vernon early; bevies, BBQ & pool/hot tub!” He didn’t disappoint! We stepped off the bus & were greeted with 6 Jack n’ Cokes & were promptly ushered into our accommodations for the night; pimp palace overlooking both lakes with pool & hot tub! Huge thanks to Shane for making this show happen & to Rob for opening his house up to us!

Thanks to Channel Eight for warming things up & a thanks to everyone else who came out & watched us rock Club 2929 on a very rainy Sunday night in Vernon!

Sept. 13th; Day off

Looooong drive to Prince George. A killer session of “Head, Body, Legs”. “What’s Head, Body, Legs”, you ask? That’s another story entirely! There’s some video of BHV’s reaction to “Head, Body, Legs” floating around, maybe that’ll surface one day! (I’m not sure it’s suitable for all ages. – s2)

Sept. 14th; Prince George w/Malibu Knights (& Scott`s Birthday, happy belated buddy!)

We rolled in to a very cold PG & stepped into the Generator, our venue for the night. Killer set up! Huge stage, huge sound system & 3 adult sized tricycles that we promptly mounted & raced around the club for about 45 mins. Sound check with the sound tech Ron. What a rad dude! Tons of experience & tons of good advice! Thanks a lot Ron, you made for a very memorable night!

After soundcheck, we made our way to 94X, Prince George’s rock radio station, who had been giving the BHV some spins leading up to the tour. We met up with the music director, Matt Porteus & had a sweet “on-air”. What a rad dude & a very supportive member of the Black Hat Nation. (the very next day we received a text from Matt, he went to bat for us after witnessing what we do live & got us added into regular rotation!)

After the “on-air” we jumped into Malibu’s motorhome and climbed the steep hill to the PG college. We walked around the campus handing out BHV & MK propaganda before stumbling upon the colleges radio station. We approached the dude sitting at the desk & asked, “How about we slide into the studio, you hit the “giver” button & we say what we gotta say!” Much to our surprise, he agreed! We did a rad on-air & then he rocked the snot outta My Generation! It was sweet!

We made our way back to the club & convinced one of the bouncers to drive us 8 blocks outta town so we could find a cake for Scotty’s b-day. MK took the stage & rocked balls, then we climbed up there & rocked the same balls! What’s more rock n’ roll than stopping a pummeling set of killer tunes to sing happy birthday? Nothing, so that’s what we did! Suhweeeet!

A huge thanks to Nancy Johnson Birch for taking the time to corner an elusive promoter & forcing him to listen to our cd, convincing him to book us!

Sept. 15th; Grand Prairie w/Malibu Knights

This show, for me, was one of the highlights of our tour! We show up to Better Than Fred’s & the owner, John, bought us all dinner, drinks, gave us access to the biggest green room we’ve had to date & gave us a place to stay in his own house! A solid, solid dude right from the get-go, thanks John!

We were scheduled for an on-air with Mark Neskar at Grand Prairie’s rock station 97.7 FM, so Scotty, Shane & myself sauntered down there & had a killer interview, probably the best one that anyone’s ever heard. We then went back to BTF’s, watched the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter: GSP vs. Koscheck (I for one cannot wait for Koscheck to get his block knocked off), then we pulled off yet another life changing live performance! The response was phenomenal & we even had rabid fans frothing at the mouth & doing backflips off the stage! Epic &…well…epic!

Sept. 16th; Calgary w/Malibu Knights & Mass Undergoe

We arrived in Calgary & went straight to our home for the night. Kate, an old friend of Scotty offered to put us up for the night & what a sweetheart she was, opening her home (& hot tub) up to us.

We made our way over to the Rusty Cage & met with the band that would be sharing the stage with us, Mass Undergoe. Super nice dudes & very solid live performance! We then met up with Jeff, Dallas & Nick from UnratedMusic.com – super cool guys & a super cool interview, with the whole band throwing in their two cents! Thanks gents!

It was very cool to see some old friends out to this show! An extra special thanks to the manager here, Amos! You are a stand up guy (not like a stand up comedian, but like a solid dude).

Also, a huge shout out (what does that even mean?) to Steve for flying out from Victoria for not just this show, but for the ones in Edmonton & St Albert as well! Steve, your loyalty shall not go unrewarded! (what does that even mean?)

Sept. 17th; Edmonton w/Malibu Knights & Fenix Foundation

Hilarious! We roll up to Haven, to discover it sandwiched between a XXX movie store on one side & a rub & tug “massage” parlor on the other. Classy, classy part of town, but somehow, we felt like we belonged!

I was pretty excited to play this show, as our stage mates, Fenix Foundation, are a very solid live band & their drummer, Jason, is my cousin-in-law!

We had a meeting with Lochlin, the music director from THE rock station in Edmonton, 100.3 The Bear. At the very top of our ‘to do’ list for this tour, was to try & impress the high-ups at the Bear. ‘Locker’ was super cool, but we were a little disappointed to learn wouldn’t be able to make the show that night, but he promised to be at the one in St. Albert the next night.

We were extremely stoked to see some old friends & family (& some new family too, Sam met his 6 month old baby cousin, Daniel for the first time). Fenix Foundation were awesome, especially considering it was their first live performance (including practices) in 3 months! Malibu killed it as well, then BHV put the salt in the wound! After our set, the folks at Haven locked the front doors & kept the bar open for everyone who stuck around. It was rad to catch up with some people who we hadn’t seen in a very long time, as well as meet some very cool new peeps. Welcome to the Nation!

A huge thanks goes out to Alan, the singer from Fenix Foundation, for letting us crash at his place!

Sept. 18th; St Albert w/Malibu Knights & Fenix Foundation

We got up that afternoon (that’s right, I said afternoon, that’s rock & roll baby!) & decided to hit up West Edmonton Mall. We had a bit of time to kill, as our next show was in St Albert (or Stink Albert, as our buddy Mike kept referring to) a mere 25 km North. Ian had never been on a roller coaster before & JFC, what an introduction! The Mind Bender is an absolutely insane indoor roller coaster (it just happened to be my very first roller coaster back in the day too, so I knew what was in store for Ian). I think he pooped a little!

We then headed to the Taphouse to do sound check & melt feces…I mean faces!

There’s nothing like showing up to the club to learn that the room has been double booked with a golf tournament & the promoter is MIA! No probs, we can rock drunk golfers & caddies alike & it turned out to be record merch sales!

True to his word, Locker from 100.3 the bear in Edmonton was in attendance. I think it’s pretty safe to say he was impressed! Scotty had a very long talk with him after our bone crushing set & Locker kept saying, ”Fuck yeah! Fuck Yeah! THAT’S what’s been missing in rock for so long! Abe rules!” (well he didn’t actually say ”Abe rules” but it was in his eyes guys, it was in his eyes!) He kept re-assuring us, “Keep pushing My Generation, I have huge confidence in that song!” Sure enough, a month after the tour ended, we received word, MY GENERATION WAS ADDED INTO ROTATION ON THE BEAR!!! Thanks Locker!!!

So the rest of the night was pretty lack luster; our bus getting broken into & 3 or 4 different fights! Good times in Stink Albert! It was great to see my extended family out in full force, thanks a lot guys!

More huge thanks, this time to my cousins, Doug & Brandy for putting us up for the night. It was great to have some time to hang with you guys amidst our crazy schedule!

Sept. 19th; Day off

We drove back down to Calgary to stay with Kate again, as our next show on the 20th was in Lethbridge. We had an awesome Thai feast & a few of us hit the hot tub. Thai food & hot tubs? Probably not the best combo, but things turned out ok. No “oil slicks” to speak of.

Sept. 20th; Lethbridge w/Malibu Knights

We arrived in Lethbridge & headed to Rock 106 FM & proceeded to throw down yet another “bar raising” on-air interview with Scott McGregor to try & get a few more bodies into the show on a Monday night! From there we went to Slice & hands down, some of the best pizza we’ve ever eaten (aside from pizza pops of course). We set up our shit & rocked the “F” out of anyone who was there! The promoter there, Jesse, turned out to be a super cool dude & treated us very, very well! Thanks Jesse!

Sadly, this was to be our last show with Malibu Knights, so after we were done, we all hopped onto their motorhome & got wasted! MK do a rad medley in their set. I think it’s some fuckin’ Sublime tune & in the chorus, they play the same chords, but chuck other songs lyrics in there. Well we ended up doing a 25 minute version of that, everything from Slayer & Metallica, to Spice Girls & Gwen Stefani! It was killer & hopefully that video footage surfaces one day!

Malibu Knights; Rod Dan & Dean-it was our pleasure & honor to share the stage with you guys. You guys are a bunch of solid, solid guys with a very bright future & we are extremely proud to call you friends! Thank you guys very much, for “bringing it” each & every night & for doing it with a killer attitude! We WILL do it again! Boo fuckin’ hoo, get a room or whatever!

Sept. 21st & 22nd; Days off

We booked a room in the picturesque town of Rossland before our long drive back to Langley. On our way there, our merch pimp, Shane, got word that one of his sheep, named “Old Balls” (a name given to him because he was a very old sheep & had a set of knackers the size of watermelons) had died. In honor of “Old Balls”, Shane, Sam & Scott ordered the rack o’ lamb & devoured it in Old Ball’s memory! As it turned out, no lambs had to be sacrificed to fill their bellies, ”Old Balls” wasn’t dead at all, he was very much alive & didn’t die until a few days later. RIP Old Balls, you will be baaaaaaadly missed (get it? Baaaaaaaaaaaadly, like a sheep? Baaaahhh? What, too soon?)

We slowly made our way back to White Rock via some other highway, through Greenwood & Osoyoos & other scenic cities. It was remarkable & breathtaking & debonair? We rendezvoused in White Rock with Sam’s Dad & wife, Rick & Audrey, whose house was ours for the next two nights. Thanks again for the hospitality Rick & Audrey!

Sept. 23rd; Langley w/Midnight Hours

We rolled up to the Shark Club in Langley & met the promoter Terrance. Super cool, straight up dude! We had arranged for Rico, a sound guy we had met when we played Motofest in Vernon a few months back, to run the board for us. It’s a good thing he was there when the sound system was being set up, because things were severely lacking! Rico just smiled & said, ”I’ll be right back!” He wasn’t lying, because he came back with a giant soundboard & a ton of rack gear! Thanks Rico, for saving the day!

Thanks to Midnight Hours for opening things up! Coincidentally enough, we’d be playing with MH’s guitar players old band, Goodbye Beatdown, the next night, IN VICTORIA!!!

Sept. 24th; Victoria w/Goodbye Beatdown & TV Heart Attack

Our homecoming show was at the Upstairs Cabaret & was part of the Rifflandia festival. Being that admission was a wristband type deal, 10 grand for a wristband & no ”single show” admissions, we weren’t really sure what the turnout was going to be like. We weren’t disappointed! By the time we hit the stage the joint was jumpin’, or whatever. We rocked a solid homecoming set & left it all up on that stage! There wasn’t a dry pair of underwear in the place! Thanks to TV Heart Attack & Goodbye Beatdown for sharing the stage with us.

Well, that’s the tour in a nutshell, minus a million other things! Thanks to everyone who came to support Black Hat Villain & for those whose BHV cherries we popped on the road? Welcome to The Nation!!!

Stay tuned for more news and video footage from The Dirty & Dangerous Western Canadian Tour 2010.

And look out Eastern Canada…you’re NEXT!

Hello Nation of the Black Hat!

It’s long overdue for one of them bloggy type, informatative writing thingys. There has been a TON of stuff going on in the Black Hat camp in the last little while, from HUGE reviews, to extremely successful shows, so here it is:

A HUGE thanks to the bands we played with & everyone who came out to support us at our last few shows, Evolution, the Station House (did someone say pre-sale sell-out? Yup, I did!), the Shark Club & Schanks Sports Bar for the 99.3 the Fox, Harley Davidson give away! We met a ton of really cool people & reconnected with a bunch of others. Thanks to everyone for coming out, y’all rule!

DIRTY & DANGEROUS WESTERN CANADA TOUR 2010!!!

Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon, Prince George, Grand Prairie, Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton & St Albert. We’ll be heading out on Sept 10th & returning Sept. 24th. Go to our FaceBook page for info, I hope to have the whole thing confirmed for the end of next week! I’ll post the dates forthwith, whatever that means.

RADIO CAMPAIGN!!!

Earlier this month, team Black Hat Villain launched an extensive, 3 month, Canada wide radio campaign, in preperation of our upcoming tour. So far the response has been awesome & we’d just like to thank all the stations who have added or featured “My Generation”! If you have a local ROCK station who are not playing Black Hat Villain, please let us know & we’ll do our best to get the Dirty & Dangerous blasting through the airwaves!

REVIEWS!!!

Black Hat Villain have been getting some pretty killer reviews lately! Check out what some people are saying;

”….the next big International thing to come out of Canada’s West Coast… ” – Alan Cross, Explore Music (Jul 23, 2010)

“Victoria’s Black Hat Villain captures the spirit of vintage rock ‘n’ roll with a solid dose of modern influences. Urgent hard rock that’s instantly recognizable and should give them plenty of radio spins. ” - FRANCOIS MARCHAND, The Vancouver Sun (Jul 07, 2010)

“Black Hat Villain’s music is the perfect soundtrack to the rock and roll life you’ve always wanted to live.” – Dave Sawchuk,Music Director, The Zone 91.3 FM (Victoria) (May 01, 2010)

““400 Bands signed up, more than 50,000 fan votes were cast at cfox.supernova.com. Black Hat Villain emerged as 1 of 3 winners of Fox Vancouver Seeds 2010. 99.3 The Fox are proud to be supporting BHV…. Keep an eye out for this band!” – Dunner, Program Director, 99.3 FM The Fox (Jul 07, 2010)

“One of the best bands to come out of Vancouver, BC is the dirty and dangerous rock n’ rollers Black Hat Villain. The band has released a 6-track EP, My Generation, which quite frankly could be the best release of the year. The only weakness that I can come up with about the My Generation EP is that it is only 6 tracks long and way too short – but it is only an EP after all. It’s exciting to hear a band that loves to rock out and kick some serious ass. Rush might have owned it in the 80s and Nickelback are the current reigning champions of melodic rock n’ roll, but Black Hat Villain are the most likely successor to Canada’s international rock throne. This is honest sounding vintage rock n’ roll with a bit of punch. And a band like this only comes around once in a generation – my generation.” - Dan Savoie, Rockstar Weekly (Jun 23, 2010)

“My Generation is a solid debut single from Vancouver’s Black Hat Villain – a good mix of melody and RAWK!” – Rob Robson ,(former Program Director. Galaxie Rock and 99.3 The Fox) (Jun 10, 2010)

“Get in your car, crank the windows down and Black Hat Villain up. These guys WILL be the next great Canadian rock band.” – Graeme Tait, 106.9 The Wolf, Nanaimo, BC (July 27th, 2010)

“They´ve got the same hooks as Breaking Benjamin, the same energy as The Foo Fighters and deserves to be as huge as Nickelback. They are Black Hat Villain and this is their new EP “My Generation”. Call it active rock, modern rock or post grunge, I call it classy rock. We get 6 smashing songs that all sound like killers in my ears, crank it up baby! RRRRR ” - Kaj-Palace of rock, PALACE OF ROCK!!! (May 12, 2010)

“…Black Hat Villain sounds like Pearl Jam, but with big hairy balls!” – caller from, 94X FM, Prince George, BC (July 25th, 2010)

MERCH!!!

For those that wanted cd’s, but weren’t able to buy them because they were sold out due to our extreme popularity, we’ve got a fresh batch on the way! Same with shirts; girl’s tanks & girls baby dolls, guys t’s, booty shorts, hoodies, hats & seed cards! Get ‘em while we got ‘em!

GOODBYE!!!

I think that’s all for now, but as always, check our FaceBook page for all the updates you can handle!

Thanks Nation,
